How to Care for Your Handblock Printed Sarees
Handblock printed sarees are made with love, patience, and age-old techniques. With a little extra care, your saree will remain beautiful and comfortable for years to come. Here’s a simple guide to help you care for your handblock printed mul cotton saree the right way.
All our sarees come with a brief Wash & Care information attached to it. Kindly go through it when you receive your saree so as to know the details of the fabric.
Understanding Colour Bleeding :
Handblock printed fabrics use natural or azo-free dyes, which may release a small amount of colour during the first few washes. This is completely normal and does not mean the saree colour will fade.
To prevent staining:
-
Wash your saree separately or with similar colours
-
Avoid washing with light-coloured or delicate garments during the first few washes
Washing Instructions for Mul cotton Saree
-
Fill a basin with cold water
-
Add a mild detergent or shampoo
-
Avoid harsh detergents or bleach
- Gently place the saree in the water and swirl it lightly.
- Do not soak the saree for more than 5 minutes.
If there is a visible stain, apply gentle pressure only on that area. Handblock printed sarees need extra care, so avoid scrubbing or twisting the fabric.
Drying Your Saree
-
Do not wring the saree tightly after washing
-
Dry it in the shade, away from direct sunlight
Drying in shade helps retain the colour and keeps the fabric soft and long-lasting.
Ironing Instructions
-
Iron mul cotton sarees at the cotton setting on your iron box
-
Always iron from the reverse side of the saree
-
Avoid high temperatures, as excessive heat can damage the fabric and reduce durability
If you give your saree to a dry cleaner or launderer, please share these care instructions clearly.
Storing Your Saree
-
Fold the saree carefully
-
Store it in a cotton bag to allow the fabric to breathe
If possible, reuse old sarees or fabric to make cotton storage bags. It’s a simple way to care for your saree while also being kind to the environment.
For Chanderi Silk & Linen Sarees
Both Chanderi silk and linen sarees are only to be dry cleaned. Mild colour bleeding is to be expected when wet but this will not wash out the colour of the saree.
